Exercises
As a complement to all courses, exercises and localisation kits are provided. These are intended to illustrate the theoretical courses and to simulate and practice the localisation in each medium by using different source materials and having different tasks.
Courses
The eCoLoMedia courses are intended for self-learning and teaching of multimedia translation for translators as well as trainers and teachers of professional translation, localisation and cultural adaptation in academe, professional bodies and industry.
These courses offer an overview of the different fields in multimedia translation from the point of view of the different media, and highlight the cultural, linguistic, pragmatic and technical difficulties of each medium, as well as possible translational and technical strategies for overcoming them. The actual situation of each of these fields in the European market is also described.
Course structure
All courses were developed following more or less the same basic structure. Besides an introduction and classification for defining and delimiting the field, there are other sections covering issues such as the actors in the field, processes, and domain-specific issues (e.g. translation and cultural issues, technical issues, etc.).
